About this section
Save and TransferThe purpose of the Archive is to transfer knowledge along with its origin, context and rights of use. The section contains directions of preservation and a form for preparing a draft passport of the material.

The ArchivesThe Archive for the Preservation of the Heritage of Humanity and the Planet is the direction of ORION, combining human experience and knowledge of the living Earth.
The goal is to preserve the materials together with the context so that the future researcher can find the source, understand its origin and conditions of use.
The author’s Archive conceptNow the project materials and tools for preparing the description are published here. The reception of files in permanent storage on the site is not yet open.

Conservation principles
Four provisions of the author’s concept reveal how a distributed Archive can be built.
Distributed Memory
The museum, library, researcher and curator remain independent. The common system links descriptions and sources rather than substituting for collection owners.
Passport and origin
The material passport provides identifier, place and time, ownership history, status, rights and links to research.
Different levels of access
Open, research and limited materials require different rules. Rights and consents shall be specified prior to transfer and use.
Sustainability and continuation
Open formats, versions, and independent copies are described as the basis for preservation. "The legacy of Connect" is proposed as a connecting core of passports, roles and traffic history.
Basis: the Archive Concept и the Integration Ecosystem. This describes the design principles, not the confirmed readiness of the infrastructure.
