Whose task?
For whom the difficulty arose, how it is solved now and why a different approach is needed.
Remember the discoveries. Continue the research.
From engineering memory to intelligent choice of the future. We investigate how knowledge becomes a working system and what this system changes in human life.

From Subject to Understanding
This structure is offered by the original concept. We use it as an editorial support: next to the device there is a problem, the principle of operation, the conditions of application and the person who makes the decision.
For whom the difficulty arose, how it is solved now and why a different approach is needed.
What physical, biological or informational principle is the basis of the decision?
Which nodes, materials, people and constraints determine the operation of a particular device.
What processes, competencies, and resources are needed for a reproducible outcome.
Benefits for the person and territory, costs, availability, consequences and compromises.
Open questions, the next experiment and the conditions under which the hypothesis will have to be revised.
Epochs / Continuity / Choice
Three perspectives help to read development without the promise of a predestined future. Select a layer and see what questions to ask the source.
The subject, the drawing and the evidence allow us to restore the task of our era. It is important to track how materials, methods, professions and available resources have changed, preserving the origin of each document.
The result of reading: a map of "people → knowledge → solutions" with dates and sources.
We share the idea, model, prototype and result of application. Each approval requires verification conditions, limits of applicability, and a reference to the document. The lack of information remains an open question.
The result of reading: an understandable status of the decision and a list of what remains to be checked.
The future is revealed through alternative scenarios. We compare the expected benefits, resource requirements, new competencies and possible consequences. Select a small verifiable step and the conditions for reviewing the decision.
The result of reading: a question for experiment or discussion, not a promised forecast.

Editorial article / 5 minutes
How to turn familiarity with a technical subject into a research question, a learning task, and your own experience.
Read materialMethodological review / 5 minutes
Six questions to technology: problem, principle, engineering, production, impact and the next testable step.
Read materialProposal for discussion
We offer a agenda for the future meeting: how to describe the engineering object, what information to check before publication and how to turn the museum plot into a training project. The working result is one jointly disassembled passport of technology with sources and open questions.
The format is at the proposal stage. Date, venue and participants are not assigned. After approval, the event card should contain the organizer, the program and the method of participation.
Reason for section
The author's presentation sets the idea of the program. Official materials of the Polytechnic Museum allow to study separately its published collection and educational resources.
The texts of the section are editorial development of ideas; references to the museum are given as independent sources. Verified 3 October 2026.
